Who we are

This policy explains how The Tech Tribe Charitable Foundation ("we", "us") collects and uses personal data when you use this website, contact us or take part in our programmes. We are a non-profit registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria, registration number 7337940.

We work online and handle all correspondence by email. For any question about your data, email info@wearetechtribe.org.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to run our programmes and reply to you:

  • Contact and partnership forms: your name, email address, organisation (partnership form only), the topic you choose and your message.
  • Newsletter sign-up: your email address and your consent to receive updates.
  • Joining a Tribe and mentorship applications: the details you enter in the sign-up form, such as your name, contact details, location, the Tribe you want to join, your experience and links to your work.
  • Website analytics: if you accept analytics cookies, information about how you use the site, such as pages visited, links clicked and your approximate location and device type. We never send your name, email address or form answers to our analytics tools.

How we use it

  • To reply to your messages and enquiries.
  • To run our Tribes, mentorship programme and events, including matching mentors and mentees.
  • To send you updates you have asked for. Every email lets you unsubscribe.
  • To understand how our website is used so we can improve it, only if you accept analytics cookies.

We rely on your consent for the newsletter and analytics, and on our legitimate interest in running our charitable programmes for everything else. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We use trusted services to run the website and our programmes. They process data on our behalf:

  • FormSubmit, which delivers contact and partnership form submissions to our inbox.
  • Substack, which hosts our newsletter and stores subscribers' email addresses.
  • Jotform and Google Forms, which host our Tribe sign-up and mentorship application forms.
  • Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager, for website statistics if you accept analytics cookies.
  • Luma, which handles event registration when you register for a session.
  • Paystack, which processes online donations. We do not see or store your card details.
  • Vercel, which hosts this website.

Some of these providers store data outside Nigeria. We only use providers that protect personal data.

How long we keep it

We keep messages and enquiries for 2 years, and programme records for 2 years after you stop taking part. After that we delete them. Newsletter subscribers stay on our list until they unsubscribe.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, withdraw your consent at any time and object to how we use it. To do any of this, email info@wearetechtribe.org. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
